Does a broker lose their fees if a sale contract is cancelled?

A broker is entitled to their fees once a contract is concluded, which usually means the sale contract is signed and registered. However, if the sale contract is made conditional upon a specific event, the broker is only entitled to their fees once that condition is fulfilled. If a deal fails because of the brokers fraud or gross negligence, they forfeit their commission. Otherwise, their right to fees is generally protected if they have fulfilled their brokerage duties.
