What are the rules for eviction if the owner needs the property for their relatives?

An owner can seek eviction for use by their first-degree relatives upon the expiry of the lease. The owner must serve a twelve (12) month notice and prove they do not have a suitable alternative property. First-degree relatives include parents, children, and spouses. If the property is not actually used by these relatives and is re-rented, the owner can be ordered by the RDSC to compensate the evicted tenant for this breach of the law.
