Is compensation mandatory for a tenant evicted for demolition?

The law does not mandate automatic financial compensation for eviction due to demolition or reconstruction if the landlord follows the twelve (12) month notice procedure. However, the tenant is granted the right of first refusal to return to the property once it is rebuilt. Compensation is primarily awarded if the landlord abuses their power or evicts a tenant under false pretencessuch as claiming personal use but then renting the property to a third party.
