How does endangering property safety affect tenancy rights?

    Ali Faizan Syed1 min read0 viewsUpdated 1/2/2026
If a tenant makes changes to the property that endanger its safety in a way that prevents restoration to its original state, the landlord can seek eviction. This also applies if the tenant causes damage through a deliberate act or gross negligence. Property safety is a primary obligation of the tenant, and failing to exercise due caution or allowing others to cause damage results in the forfeiture of the right to occupy the premises. The landlord must prove the safety risk or damage to the tribunal.
