What is the Tenant's "Right of First Refusal" for reconstructed units?

    Ali Faizan Syed1 min read0 viewsUpdated 1/2/2026
If a Landlord demolishes and reconstructs or renovates a property, the original Tenant has the right of first refusal to move back in. To exercise this right, the Tenant must notify the Landlord within thirty (30) days of being informed. The Rent for the reconstructed property must then be determined according to the fair market value criteria. This right ensures that long-term Tenants have the opportunity to return to their original location even after major structural improvements are made by the Landlord.
