What defines the legal difference between freehold and leasehold property in Dubai

Freehold property ownership grants the buyer full ownership of both the unit and the land it stands on in perpetuity and is available to foreign nationals in designated investment zones. Leasehold implies ownership of the right to use the unit for a fixed period usually 99 years but not the land itself. For international investors targeting townhouses in master communities like Damac Islands or The Valley these are almost exclusively freehold offering complete ownership rights.
