Must all off-plan sales be registered with the Land Department?

Under Dubai law, any legal disposition of a Real Property Unit sold off-plan must be registered on the Interim Real Property Register. If a sale or transfer of ownership is not recorded in this register, the transaction is legally considered null and void. Developers were required to register existing dispositions within sixty days of the law's effective date. This mandatory registration protects purchasers by ensuring the DLD has a formal legal record of their investment from the earliest stages of development.
