What happens if a developer delays the handover of the project

The Dubai Real Estate Regulatory Agency or RERA has strict regulations regarding project delays. Developers are generally allowed a grace period usually 12 months for unforeseen circumstances. If delays persist beyond this without valid justification investors may have legal recourse to cancel the contract or claim compensation. However reputable major developers like Damac and Emaar have strong track records and delays are less common with them than with smaller private developers.
