What are the requirements for retaking a property for personal use?

An owner can seek eviction upon lease expiry to retake possession for personal use or for first-degree relatives. However, the owner must prove that they do not own any alternative property suitable for this purpose. Additionally, a twelve (12) month notice must be served via a Notary Public or registered mail. This ground for eviction is strictly monitored by the RDSC to ensure it is used legitimately and not as a tactic to bypass rent increase caps.
