What are the penalties for a landlord who re-rents after a personal-use eviction?

If a landlord evicts a tenant for personal use but then rents the property to another party, they face strict penalties. For residential properties, the landlord is prohibited from re-renting the unit for two (2) years from the date of retaking possession. For non-residential properties, the limit is three (3) years. If this rule is violated, the original tenant can request the RDSC to award them fair compensation for the damages sustained due to the deceptive eviction.
