Can a tenant use a RDSC claim to stop paying rent?

Filing a claim for eviction at the RDSC does not exempt the tenant from their obligation to pay rent. The tenant must continue to pay the rent for the entire period during which the claim is being heard by the tribunal. This obligation persists until a formal award is rendered and the eviction is actually enforced. This rule protects the landlords income during the litigation process and ensures that the legal system is not used as a tool to avoid financial responsibilities.
